FAQs

  1. Where are you located?
In Sydney, we have two locations, in Chippendale and Ryde.
KOI Chippendale is our flagship location, here we are split into two sections. We have our cafe area where we serve our signature range of cakes with coffee. We also have our Dining Room where we host KOI Experiential.
KOI Ryde is our main kitchen, here you can see all the cakes being made. You can also sit in the cafe area for Cakes and Coffee. Here, we also do Desserts Classes.

In Melbourne, we are located in Melbourne CBD.
KOI Melbourne is our flagship location, located in the Queen & Collins building (access via Queen St). We have our cafe area where we serve our signature range of cakes with coffee. We also have a Chef Table area, where we do a dessert degustation menu.

  2. Do I need to make a booking?
If you are coming for Cakes and Coffee no reservation is required. If you are planning to come to the KOI Experiential booking is required (this menu is only available at KOI Chippendale).

  3. Are your cakes Gluten Free/Nut Free/Egg Free/Dairy Free/Vegan/Vegetarian/Halal?
    - Most of our cakes are Gluten Free (*may contain traces of gluten).
    - Most of our cakes contain almond meal. Some contain hazelnuts, pistachios, and walnuts.
    - We use beef gelatine in our cakes, so most of them are Halal Friendly (except the ones that contain alcohol)
    - We specialise in mousse-based desserts so our cakes use dairy and eggs

  4. How long can I keep the Cake?
To ensure your cake remains in optimum condition, it is recommended to be stored at 3-5C. If stored correctly your cake will look and taste great for two days, after that you may see some deterioration to its fresh decoration but it will still be delicious for another three days.

  5. How should I travel with the cake?
It’s important to remember that our cake is a delicate and perishable product ie: it should be kept refrigerated. To ensure the quality of your cake is not compromised during transportation, we recommend to always keep your cake box flat and avoid placing it in direct sunlight. The floor or boot of your car is the best place, never on the back seat and ensure your boxes are secure and will not slide around. If you plan to travel long distances with your cakes we recommend you bring a cooler bag or esky, especially through the warmer months!
Once your cake is in your care it is important to follow these instructions, as we will not take responsibility for any damage incurred during transportation.

  6. Are children allowed in KOI Experiential (Chippendale)?
Due to the nature of the menu and the seating arrangement, we don’t recommend children.

  7. How do I use my Gift Card?
You can use your Gift Card at either KOI Ryde /KOI Chippendale/KOI Melbourne. You can also use your Gift Card for KOI Experiential (Chippendale). Also, your Gift Card doesn’t have an expiry as long as there is a balance in it.
